General Information and Rules

The following rules and regulations are for the benefit and protection of all members. Parents are requested to instruct their children to observe all rules and obey the instructions of the manager and staff.  Any failure to comply with the rules may result in suspension of membership privileges. 

MANAGEMENT  
The Board of Directors has continuing responsibility for setting policies and for matters not directly handled by the manager and staff.  The manager is in charge of the facilities at all times and along with the staff is responsible for enforcement of rules and regulations.  The tennis pro also has responsibility for the enforcement of rules and regulations regarding the tennis facilities.  Members and guest are expected to show proper respect for the staff.

SUMMER HOURS
Unless otherwise determined, the facilities will be open for operation from 11:00am until 9:00pm daily between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  Members who have purchased keys may use the tennis courts at other times.  Special hours will be posted when applicable.

SUMMER GUEST POLICY AND RATES   
NO GUEST MAY USE THE FACILITIES MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK, except an overnight guest who does not live in Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene or Nelson Counties.  The regular rate for each guest, whether a child or an adult, to use all facilities is $4.25.  The rate is one-half price after 6:00pm.  One-week guest passes are available at the main office.  These are to be used by out-of-town guests only and are issued for 7 consecutive days.  The cost is $21.50 for 7 days.  Passes are not refundable.  ALL MEMBERS AND GUESTS MUST CHECK IN BEFORE USING THE FACILITIES. 

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES  
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the grounds, except when specifically authorized for Club sponsored functions.  A banquet license must be obtained for any Club function at which alcoholic beverages may be served or consumed.  Alcoholic beverages may never be consumed or served on Club property or at Club functions by anyone under the age of 21.

GLASS CONTAINERS  
For your safety, no glass or glass containers are permitted on the Fairview Grounds.

PETS  
Pets are NOT permitted in pool area.

SNACK BAR AND OFFICE

  1. NO ONE is permitted inside the office and snack bar area, except staff or in the event of an emergency or for first aid.
  2. Do NOT sit on the ledge of the door to the snack bar and office.
  3. The snack bar normally closes one-half hour before the pool.

POOL RULES – GENERAL

  1. No running, pushing, acrobatics, wrestling, ball playing, dunking, unnecessary yelling and screaming or other disturbances are permitted in or about the pool.
  2. There will be a ten-minute rest period every hour. The staff will signal this period. During this period no persons under 16 years of age are permitted in the water.
  3. Please adhere to the  sliding board  “rules”.
  4. Please place trash in the receptacles provided for your convenience.
  5. Swim masks and fins will be allowed in the pool when approved by a lifeguard, the manager or the assistant manager. No flotation devices are permitted in the pool, except water wings used by a child who is supervised and accompanied by a swimming adult.
  6. This is a smoke free environment. PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE!
  7. Children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18 years of age or older) or by a designated baby-sitter. The parent or babysitter is responsible for the behavior and safety of the children in their care.
  8. Children between the ages of 8 and 10 may come to the pool without an adult, only if the children have passed the diving well test.
  9. No floats, noodles, balls, or toys (especially water guns) are permitted in the regular pool, unless approved by a lifeguard. Children with floatation devices must be supervised by an adult.
  10. No one may sit or climb on the Lifeguard chairs at any time.
  11. No diving is allowed in the 3 or 4-foot areas of the pool.

POOL RULES – DIVING AREA

  1. Before using the diving area you must pass a test under the supervision of and at the convenience of the staff member. The test consists of swimming any stroke two lengths of the pool without stopping, treading water for one minute and diving or jumping off a diving board.
  2. Only one person is allowed on a diving board at a time.
  3. Only one bounce is permitted on the board before diving or jumping.
  4. You must dive or jump off the front of the board only.   Do not dive or jump towards the side of the diving area.
  5. After diving, clear the diving area quickly in order not to inhibit the next diver.

  6. No hanging on the board is allowed.

  7. Do not dive off the board until the person in front of you is safely to the side of the pool and out of the way.

  8. Do not play with the water under the board when the pool is being filled.

  9. Do not hang on the rope between the diving area and the rest of he pool.  

  10. Do not swim in the diving area while the boards are in use.  However, when the boards are not in use, persons who have passed the swimming test may swim in the diving area.

POOL RULES – WADING POOL

  1. Babies with disposable diapers are not permitted in either pool.  The use of swim diapers or cloth diapers is suggested instead.

  2. An adult or approved baby-sitter must supervise children in the wading pool.

  3. No one over the age of six is permitted in the wading pool, except the supervising adult or approved baby-sitter.

POOL RULES – HEALTH

  1. Clean dirt and grass from your feet and wipe suntan oils from your body before entering the pool.

  2. Please use the toilet facilities before entering the pools.  It is the responsibility of all parents to teach your children proper bathroom use and to make them aware of the facilities available at the pool.

  3. A complete shower is suggested for all persons who are unusually dirty, or who have just played “beach volleyball”.

  4. For persons who have sand, dirt or grass on their feet from activities outside the pool area footbaths (plastic tubs at this time) are provided at the side gate for cleaning your feet. 

TENNIS RULES AND COURT RESERVATIONS  (More detailed information is available at the tennis shelter)

  1. Courts 1, 2 and 3 may be reserved up to three days in advance by calling the office or signing the sign-up sheet.  Single players may reserve a court for an hour, and doubles players may reserve a court for one and one-half hours.

  2. Members and guests must be on the signup sheet before playing.  Otherwise, you may be bumped from a court.

  3. Adults have priority after 5:00pm.  Juniors may be bumped by an adult after that time.

  4. After pool hours courts are available only to adults or juniors playing with parents.  No playing is permitted after 10:30 pm.  The last one using the courts must turn off the lights.

  5. Tennis shoes and proper etiquette are required.  Tennis attire is suggested. 

  6. Availability of courts may be limited during junior practice, matches, group instruction and special events.
